HMS Prince of Wales (201?) CV (9th) |

This the ninth ship to carry the name HMS Prince of Wales is
projected to be a Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carrier. Long lead items have been ordered and construction is contracted to the Aircraft Carrier Alliance. The first steel was cut 26-May-2011 and construction begun. Work on Lower Block 03 started at Govan Sep-2011. Work on LB02 began at Portsmouth Feb-2012. It is possible it could be mothballed or sold on completion as a defence review in late 2010 tried to cancel the project.
