HMS Tyrian (1943) DD  (5th)

    
This the fifth ship to carry the name HMS Tyrian was a T Class, destroyer.

Built by Swan Hunter, laid down 15-Oct-1941, launched 27-Jul-1942, and commissioned 08-Apr-1943.

On completion formed part of the 24th Destroyer Flotilla and went to the Mediterranean.

Took part in the Sicily landings then operations in the Aegean.

Late 1944 went to the British Pacific Fleet, for operations against the Japanese until the end of the war.

Aug-1945 assisted with the re-occupation of Shanghai.

Remained in service after the war and was converted to a Type 16 frigate May-1953 with the pennant number F67..

Appeared at the Coronation Review 1953.

Put into reserve Nov-1956.

Arrived at Troon 04-Mar-1965 for breaking up.

Won the Battle Honours: Atlantic 1943, Sicily 1943, Salerno 1943, Mediterranean 1943, Adriatic 1944, South France 1944 and Aegean 1944.
