This the first ship to carry the name HMS Terrible was a sixth rate, 26-gun ship.

Built by Ellis of Shoreham, launched 15-Jun-1694, 83ft long, 27ft 6in wide and of 253 tons builders measurement.

Captured by the Spanish, off Cape St Mary's, 20-Sep-1710.

Won the Battle Honour: Vigo 1702.
