HMS Monarch (1912) BB  (5th)

    
This the fifth ship to carry the name HMS Monarch was the second of four Orion Class (1912) battleships.

Built by Armstrong, shipbuilders, laid down Apr-1910, launched 30-Mar-1911 and completed in Mar-1912. 

She served with the Home Fleet from 1912-14, and Grand Fleet throughout WW1. Was present during the Battle of Jutland.

Taken out of service in 1922.

Sunk of the Isles of Scilly as a target for aircraft bombing, cruiser and battleship gunnery 20-Jan-1925. Did not sink until engaged at close range by HMS Revenge (1916).

Won the Battle Honour: Jutland 1916.
