This the first ship to carry the name HMS Monarch was a 3rd rate,
74-gun ship-of-the-line.
Captured from the French 14-Oct-1747 off Cape Finisterre. She as originally called Monarche and renamed. 175ft long, 47ft 6in wide and of 1,707 tons builders measurement. Sold 25-Nov-1760.
