This the fourth ship to carry the name HMS Mermaid was originally HMS Ruby. A  fourth rate, 54-gun. ship-of-the-line.

Built at Deptford Dockyard, launched 25-Mar-1708, 130ft 6in long, 35ft wide and of 707 tons builders measurement.

Renamed HMS Mermaid 23-May-1744.

Sold 19-May-1748.
