This the sixth ship to carry the name HMS Mermaid was a sixth rate, 28-gun, ship.

Built by Blaydes of Hull, launched 06-May-1761, 124ft long, 32ft wide and of 613 tons builders measurement.

Chased ashore by the French in Delaware Bay, 08-Jul-1778.
