This the third ship to carry the name HMS Janus was a wooden paddle sloop.

Built at Chatham Dockyard, launched 06-Feb-1844, 180ft long, 30ft 6in wide and of 763 tons builders measurement.

Sold Apr-1856.

Won the Battle Honour: Baltic1854.
