HMS Gloucester (1910) CC  (8th)

This the eighth ship to carry the name HMS Gloucester was a Light Cruiser.

Built by Beardmore of Dalmuir, laid down 15-Apr-1909, launched 25-Oct-1909, and completed Oct-1910.

On completion joined the Home Fleet 1912, then went to the Mediterranean 1913-15, where she took part in the chase of the German Ships Goeben and Breslau Aug-1914.

 Returned to the UK and joined the Grand Fleet 1915-16. An unusual action was when she shelled Galway during the Irish Easter uprising.

Took part in the Battle of Jutland 31-May-1916. To the Adriatic 1916-19 after which she returned to the UK.

Listed for disposal 1920.

Sold 1921.

Won the Battle Honour: Jutland 1916.
