3rd Rate 74-gun

    
This the third ship to carry the name HMS Edgar was a third rate, 74-gun, ship-of-the-line.

Built at Woolwich Dockyard, launched 30-Jun-1779, 168ft long, 47ft wide and of 1,644 tons builders measurement.

Used as a convict hulk from Dec-1813.

Renamed HMS Retribution 19-Aug-1814.

Broken up at Deptford Feb-1835.

Won the Battle Honours: St. Vincent 1780, Ushant 1781 and Copenhagen 1801.
