HMS Warspite (1666)  (2nd)
3rd Rate 70-gun 

    
This the second ship to carry the name HMS Warspite was a third rate, 70-gun ship-of-the-line.

Built by Johnson & Castle of Blackwall, launched 08-Jun-1666, 142ft long, 38ft wide and of 898 tons builders measurement (bm).

Rebuilt at Rotherhithe 1702 with an increased tonnage of 952 tons bm.

Renamed HMS Edinburgh 02-Jan-1716.

Rebuilt at Chatham1721 as 1,119 tons bm, and re-rated as 64-guns.

Broken up Dec-1771 at Plymouth.

Won the Battle Honours: Orfordness 1666, Sole Bay 1672, Schooneveld 1673, Texel 1673, Barfleur 1692, Velez Malaga 1704 and Marbella 1705.
