HMS Ulysses (1943) DD  (3rd)

    
This the third ship to carry the name HMS Ulysses was a U Class, destroyer.

Built by Cammell Laird, laid down 14-Mar-1942, launched 22-Apr-1943, and commissioned 23-Dec-1943.

On commissioning served in the Arctic. Then as part of the 25th Destroyer Flotilla, took part in Normandy landing operations Jun-1944.

She then went to the Adriatic, and early 1945 the East Indies. Finally on to the British Pacific Fleet until the Japanese surrender.

After the war was converted to a Type 15 frigate 1954-55, with the pennant number F17.

Used as a training ship 1960 and went into reserve Dec-1960.

Sold 29-Oct-1979 and broken up at Plymouth.

Won the Battle Honour: Arctic 1944, Normandy 1944 and Japan 1945.
