HMS Redoubt (1942) DD  (2nd)

    
This the second ship to carry the name HMS Redoubt was an R Class (1942), destroyer.

Built by John Brown on the Clyde, laid down 19-Jun-1941, launched 02-May-1942, and commissioned 01-Oct-1942.

Late 1942 escorted HMS Victorious to the USA when Victorious was en route to the Pacific to reinforce the US carrier fleet.

To the Eastern Fleet in South African waters 1943. Then 1944 to the Indian Ocean area, where she remained until the end of the war.

Decommissioned Jan-1946 and put into reserve.

Sold to the Indian Navy 04-Jul-1949 and renamed INS Ranjit.

Broken up 1979.

Won the Battle Honour: Atlantic 1943, East Indies 1945 and Burma 1945.
