This the seventh ship to carry the name HMS Rainbow was an
Albacore Class, 4 gun, wooden screw gunboat. Built by Laird, laid down 17-Oct-1855, launched 08-Mar-1856 and completed 14-Apr-1856. Took part in the Royal Fleet Review 1856. Used as a survey vessel from 1857, then a training ship 1873. Sold Nov-1888.
