HMS Racehorse (1942) DD  (9th)

    
This the ninth ship to carry the name HMS Racehorse was an R Class, destroyer.

Built by John Brown on the Clyde, laid down 25-Jun-1941, launched 01-Jun-1942, and commissioned 30-Oct-1942.

Late 1942 escorted HMS Victorious to the USA when Victorious was en route to the Pacific to reinforce the US carrier fleet.

To the Eastern Fleet in South African waters 1943. Then 1944 to the Indian Ocean area, where she remained until the end of the war.

Decommissioned Jan-1946 and went into reserve.

Sold 08-Nov-1949 for breaking up.

Won the Battle Honours: Atlantic 1943, Sabang 1944, East Indies 1945 and Burma 1945.
