This the fourth ship to carry the name HMS Quail was an Albacore class, 4-gun, wooden screw gunboat.

Built by Wigram of Blackwall, laid down 12-Oct-1855, launched 02-Jun-1856 and completed 30-Jul-1858.

Took part in the Royal Fleet Review 1856.

Broken up at Malta Sep-1861.
