This the second ship to carry the name HMS Prometheus was a 5-gun, wooden paddle sloop.

Built at Sheerness Dockyard, launched 21-Sep-1839, 164ft long, 33ft wide and of 796 tons builders measurement. Armed with 5 x 32pdr guns.

Took part in the Royal Fleet Review 1856.

Sold 1863.
