HMS Porcupine (1942) DD  (7th)

    
This the seventh ship to carry the name HMS Porcupine was a P Class, destroyer.

Built by Vickers Armstrong on the Tyne, laid down 26-Dec-1939, launched 10-Jun-1941, and commissioned 31-Aug-1942.

To the Mediterranean for Malta convoy escort.

09-Dec-1942 torpedoed by U-602 in the Western Mediterranean, and almost broken in two. Towed to port and declared Constructive Total Loss.

Cut in two with both half's shored up and towed to the UK, where they were used as base ships.

Sold May-1946.

Forward part broken up at Plymouth and stern broken up at Southampton.

Won the Battle Honour: North Africa 1942.
