HMS Myngs (1944) DD  (2nd)

    
This the second ship to carry the name HMS Myngs was a Z Class, destroyer leader. As destroyer leader she had slightly reduced armament to allow the increased complement and working space needed to control a flotilla.

Built by Vickers Armstrong, laid down, 27-May-1942, launched 31-May-1943, and commissioned 23-Jun-1944.

On commissioning joined the Home Fleet.

Carried out Russian convoy escort, Norwegian carrier raids and cruiser patrols until the end of the war.

Appeared at the Coronation Review 1953.

Sold May-1955 to the Egyptian Navy, renamed El Qaher Aug-1956.

Sunk 16-May-1870 by Israeli air attack.

Won the Battle Honours: Norway 1944 and Arctic 1944-45.
