HMS Illustrious (1898) BB  (3rd)

    

This the third HMS Illustrious was built at Chatham Dockyard, laid down in Mar-1895, launched in 1896, and completed in  Apr-1898. 

She served first in the Mediterranean from 1898-1904. Then the Channel Fleet until 1908. Followed by the Reserve Fleet until 1914. During WW1 she was guardship at various places and in 1915 was either on detached duties or with the Channel Fleet. From 1916-17 went to the Tyne as an ammunition ship, then to Portsmouth as a store ship. Where she stayed until 1919.

Sold 18-Jun-1920 for scrapping.
