This the seventh ship to carry the name HMS Fame was a hulk.

Originally HMS Dragon, a 3rd Rate, 74-gun, ship-of-the-line.

Built by Wells of Rotherhithe, launched 02-Apr-1798, 178ft long, 49ftwide and of 1,815 tons builders measurement.

Used for harbour service from Sep-1824. Renamed HMS Fame 15-Jul-1842 when reduced to a hulk.

Broken up Aug-1850.
