This the second ship to carry the name HMS Erne was an Albacore class, 4 gun, wooden screw gunboat.

Built by Smith of North Shields, laid down 08-Oct-1855, launched 18-Feb-1856 and completed 03-Apr-1856.

Took part in the Royal Fleet Review 1856.

Broken up at Chatham 1874.
