This the first ship to carry the name HMS Diomede was a fifth rate, 44-gun, ship.

Built by Hillhouse of Bristol, launched 18-Oct-1781, 140ft long, 38ft wide and of 891 tons builders measurement.

Wrecked off Trincomalee 02-Aug-1795.
