This the second ship to carry the name HMS Desperate was a wooden screw sloop.

Built at Pembroke Dock, launched 23-Apr-1849, 192ft long, 34ft wide and of 1,038tons builders measurement.

Took part in the Royal Fleet Review 1853 and the Royal Fleet Review 1856.

Broken up Aug-1865 at Devonport.

Won the Battle Honour: Baltic 1854-55.
