This the fifth ship to carry the name HMS Cormorant was a sixth rate, 20-gun, ship.

Originally French (Etna) captured 13-Nov-1796 by HMS Melampus off the coast of France. 119ft long, 33ft wide and of 564tons builders measurement.

Wrecked 20-May-1800 on the coast of Egypt.

Won the Battle Honour: Minorca 1798.
