This the fourth ship to carry the name HMS Cherokee was an Albacore class, wooden screw gunboat.

Built by Green of Blackwall, laid down 01-Dec-1855, launched 30-Apr-1856 and completed 03-Oct-1856.

Took part in the Royal Fleet Review 1856.

Broken up Mar-1869 at Portsmouth.
