HMS Bellerophon (1865) BB  (3rd)

    
This the third ship to carry the name HMS Bellerophon, was built at Chatham Dockyard, laid down in Dec-1863, launched 27-Jul-1865 and completed in Apr-1865.

She served at home in the Channel Fleet 1867-71 after which she spent most of her time abroad. After a brief spell in the Mediterranean, she went on to the North American and West Indies station as Flagship from 1873-92.

On her return she became port guardship at Pembroke until 1903, when she became a stokers training ship and was renamed Indus III.

Sold 12-Dec-1922 and broken up at Bo'ness.
