This the fourth ship to carry the name HMS Ajax was launched as
HMS
Vanguard (1835). A third rate, 78-gun ship-of-the-line. Built at Pembroke Dock, launched 25-Aug-1835, 190ft long, 57ft wide and of 2,609 tons builders measurement. Renamed HMS Ajax 20-Oct-1867. Broken up at Chatham Jun-1875.
