This the sixth ship to carry the name HMS Africa was wooded screw
sloop.
Built at Devonport Dockyard, launched 29-Mar-1862, 160ft long, 30ft wide and of 669 tons builders measurement. Sold 13-Aug-1862 to the Emperor of China, and renamed China.
