HMS Tuscan (1943) DD  (3rd)

    
This the third ship to carry the name HMS Tuscan was a T Class, destroyer.

Built by Swan Hunter, laid down 06-Sep-1941, launched 28-May-1942, and commissioned 11-Mar-1943.

On completion formed part of the 24th Destroyer Flotilla, and went to the Mediterranean.

Struck a mine 14-May-1943 and was badly damaged.

Served in the Aegean Sea late 1944, then on to the British Pacific Fleet, where she remained for the remainder of the war.

Converted to a Type 16 frigate with the pennant number F156, Aug-1953 and remained in reserve.

Arrived at Bo'ness 26-May-1966 for breaking up.

Won the Battle Honours: Adriatic 1944, South France 1944, Aegean 1944.
