This the first ship to carry the name HMS Sussex was a 46-gun,
ship. Built at Portsmouth Dockyard and launched 1652. Blown up by accident Dec-1653. Won the battle Honours: Portland 1653, Gabbard 1653 and Scheveningen 1653.
