This the first ship to carry the name HMS Starling was a 12-gun, gun-brig.

Built by Adams of Bucklers Hard, launched 04-Apr-1801, 85ft long, 22ft wide and of 184 tons builders measurement.

Wrecked near Calais 18-Dec-1804.
