HMS Portland (1693)  (2nd)
4th Rate 48-gun 

    
This the second ship to carry the name HMS Portland was a fourth rate 48/42-gun ship.

Built at Woolwich Dockyard, launched 28-Mar-1693, 125ft 6in long, 34ft wide, 14ft deep in the hold and of 636 tons builders measurement (bm).

She carried 48guns with 230 men in time of war at home or 42-guns with 160 men in peace or war overseas.

Rebuilt at Portsmouth Dockyard and launched  25-Feb-1723, 134ft long on the deck, 36ft wide, 15ft 2in deep in the hold, and with an increased tonnage of 755 89/94 tons bm.

Broken up 1743.

Won the Battle Honour: 'Coventry' 1709.
