HMS Napier (1940) DD  (3rd)

    
This the third ship to carry the name HMS Napier was the N Class, destroyer leader. As destroyer leader she had slightly reduced armament to allow the increased complement and working space needed to control a flotilla.

Built by Fairfield, laid down 26-Jul-1939, launched 22-may-1940, and commissioned 11-Dec-1940.

Manned by Royal Australian Navy on commissioning and transferred to the RAN 1941.

Returned to the Royal Navy  Sep-46.

Arrived at Briton Ferry 17-Jan-1956 for breaking up.

Won the Battle Honours: Crete 1941, Libya 1941, Burma 1944-45 and Okinawa 1945.
