This the eighth ship to carry the name HMS Mercury was a sixth rate, 20-gun, ship.

Built by Barnard of Harwich, 108ft long, 30ft wide, and of 433 tons builders measurement.

Wrecked 24-Dec-1777 off New York.

Won the Battle Honour: Havana 1762.
