HMS Lowestoft (1914) CC  (1st)

    
This the first ship to carry the name HMS Lowestoft was a Light Cruiser.

Built at Chatham Dockyard, laid down 29-Jul-1912, launched 23-Apr-1913, and completed Apr-1914.

On completion joined the Home Fleet then on the outbreak of WW1 the Grand Fleet 1914-16. To the Mediterranean 1916-17. Refitted at Malta 1917. To the Adriatic 1918-19, then to the 6th Light Cruiser Squadron at Africa 1919-24. Refitted 1924-25 then back to Africa 1925-29.

Returned to the UK and paid off at Devonport 1929.

Sold 08-Jan-1931.

Won the Battle Honours : Heligoland 1914, Dogger Bank 1915.
