HMS Defiance (1861)  (12th)
2nd Rate 81-gun

    
This the twelfth ship to carry the name HMS Defiance was a second rate, 81-gun screw, ship-of-the-line.

Built at Pembroke Dock, launched 27-Mar-1861, 255ft long, 56ft wide, of 3,475 tons builders measurement, and displacing 5,270 tons. Armed with 1 x 110pdr, 34 x 8in, 4 x 70pdr, 10 x 40pdr and 32 x 32pdr guns.

Used as a torpedo schoolship from 26-Nov-1884.

Sold 26-Jun-1931.
