This the fourth ship to carry the name HMS Contest was a 12-gun, gun-brig.

Built by Courtney of Chester, launched Jun-1804, 80ftlong, 23ft wide and of 178 tons builders measurement. Armed with 10 x 18pdr carronades and 2 x 12pdr guns.

Foundered Dec-1809 in the Atlantic.

Won the Battle Honour: Basque Roads 1809.
