HMS Amethyst (1905) CC  (5th)

This the fifth ship to carry the name HMS Amethyst was a 3rd Class, Protected Cruiser.

Built by Armstrong pf Elswick, laid down 07-Jan-1903, launched 05-Nov-1903, and completed 17-Mar-1905.

On completion joined the Atlantic Battle Squadron 1905-07, then went into reserve 1907-09.Joined the Atlantic Fleet 1909-11. The Home Fleet 1912-14. Joined the 1st Light Cruiser Squadron of the Grand Fleet 1914. To the Mediterranean 1915, the South America Station 1916-19.

Paid off at Queenstown 1919.

Sold 01-Oct-1920.

Won the Battle Honours : Heligoland 1914, Dardanelles 1915.
