Island Class (1976) PV

The Island Class were seven patrol vessels designed for fisheries protection duty and North Sea oil and Gas Field protection.

They followed on from Fishery Protection Vessels Jura and Westra which was loaned to the Royal navy from 1975 to 1977 and incorporated lessons learned during the 'Cod War' with Iceland.

They were replaced by the Castle Class (1981).
