Castle Class (1981) PV

The two ships of the Castle Class were offshore patrol vessels.

Designed as replacements for the unsuccessful Island Class (1976) there were intended to be six built. However only two were built and after the successful ending of the Falklands War one was always kept there as guardship based at Stanley. Each ship rotated on a three-yearly basis with crews rotating on a six month basis.

They were replaced by the single vessel River Class (2003) whose ship HMS Clyde is permanently based at the Falklands.

Both ships were sold to Bangladesh.
