HMS Trinidad (1941) CC  (3rd)

    
This the third ship to carry the name HMS Trinidad was a Cruiser.

Built at Devonport Dockyard, laid down 21-Apr-1938, launched 21-Mar-1940, and commissioned 14-Oct-1941.

On completion joined the Home Fleet and was used on Arctic convoy escort work.

While covering convoy PQ13 engaged German destroyers and hit Z26, but was hit by one of her own torpedoes which circled. Made Murmansk for temporary repair and left for home on 13-May-1942.

Was attacked and bombed 15-May-1942 by German aircraft in the Barents Sea with the loss of 80, and the wreck was sunk the next day by HMS Matchless.

Won the Battle Honour: Arctic 1942.
