This the first ship to carry the name HMS Trydent/Trident was a fourth rate, 58-gun, ship-of-the-line.

Originally French, captured 1695, 129ft 6in long, 36ft 6in wide and of 762 tons builders measurement.

Sunk 03-Mar-1702 as a breakwater at Harwich.
