HMS Temeraire (1798)  (2nd)
2nd Rate 98-gun 

    
This the second ship to carry the name HMS Temeraire was a 2nd rate, 98-gun ship-of-the-line.

Built at Chatham Dockyard, launched 11-Sep-1798, 185ft long, 51ft wide and of 2,121 tons builders measurement.

Fought at the battle of Trafalgar where she was badly damaged losing 47 dead and 76 wounded from her crew. (see: Fleets after the Battle).

Used as a prison ship from dec-1813, then a receiving ship from Jun-1820.

Sold 16-Aug-1838 for breaking up.

Won the Battle Honour: Trafalgar 1805.
