This the fourth ship to carry the name HMS Suffolk was a prison ship.

Originally HMS Sultan, a third rate, 74-gun, ship-of-he-line. Built by Barnard of Harwich, launched 23-Dec-1775,  168ft 6in long, 47ft wide and of 1,614 tons builders measurement.

Used as a prison ship from Feb-1797.

Renamed HMS Suffolk 1805.

Broken up Jan-1816.
