This the fourth ship to carry the name HMS Splendid was a
Swiftsure Class nuclear powered fleet submarine. Built by Vickers Shipbuilding of Barrow-in-Furness, laid down 1977, launched 05-Oct-1979 and commissioned 21-Mar-1981. Took part in operations during the Falklands War 1982. Paid off 2004 awaiting final disposal. Won the Battle Honour: Falkland Islands 1982.
