HMS Scourge (1943) DD  (9th)

    
This the ninth ship to carry the name HMS Scourge was an S Class, destroyer.

Built by Cammell Laird, laid down 26-Jun-1941, launched 08-Dec-1942, and commissioned 14-Jul-1943.

On commissioning took part in Russian convoy escort and offensive carrier sweeps off the Norwegian coast during 1943 and the first half of 1944. Then Jun-1944 operations as part of the Normandy landings.

After this it was back to Arctic duty, with Russian convoy escort alternating with offensive carrier operations until the end of the war.

Sold 01-Oct-1945 to the Royal Netherlands Navy and renamed Evertson.

Broken up Jul-1963.

Won the Battle Honours: Arctic 1943-45 and Normandy 1944.
