HMS Quality (1942) DD  (1st)

    
This the only ship to carry the name HMS Quality was a Q Class, destroyer.

Built by Swan Hunter, laid down 10-Oct-1940, launched 06-Oct-1941, and commissioned 07-Sep-1942.

On commissioning was Royal Australian Navy manned but administered by the Royal Navy, and served in the Mediterranean.

Mar-1944 as part of the 4th Destroyer Flotilla went to the Eastern Fleet in the Indian Ocean and took part in carrier raids against Japanese held territory. At the end of 1944 went to Australia as part of the British Pacific Fleet, then from early 1945 served with US Task Force 57 until the end of the war.

Oct-1945 transferred permanently to the Royal Australian Navy.

Sold 10-Apr-1958 and broken up in Japan.

Won the Battle Honours: North Africa 1942-43, Sabang 1944, Okinawa 1945 and Japan 1945.
