This the seventh ship to carry the name HMS Melpomene was a coastal minelayer. Originally a coastal monitor and the only ship to carry the name HMS M31.

Built by Harland & Wolff launched 26-Jun-1915, 170ft long, 31ft wide and displacing 535 tons. Armed with 1 x 9.2in and 1 x 3in guns.

Conversion to a minelayer completed Jan-1921.

Renamed HMS Melpomene, 01-Dec-1925.

Renamed HMS Menelaus 23-Dec-1940.

Broken up Jan-1948.
