HMS Mahratta (1943) DD  (1st)

     
This the only ship to carry the name HMS Mahratta was an M Class, destroyer.

Built by Scotts, laid down 18-Aug-1941, launched 28-Jul-1942, and commissioned 08-Apr-1943.

Spent most of the war on arctic or Russian convoy duty.

Torpedoed and sunk 25-Feb-1944 by U-956 in the Barents Sea.

Won the Battle Honour: Arctic 1943-44.
